Chrysler Laser Oil Pan

The Oil Pan of Chrysler Laser vehicles can be said to be a reserve compartment where drubs of engine oil are stored for circulation and cooling of the internal parts. Employing a wet sump system, the Chrysler Laser's Oil Pan features a reservoir for oil at the base of the engine, oil is then drawn in by a pickup tube caused by the oil pump to oil the operational parts and then return to the Oil Pan. In the past, Chrysler Laser Oil Pans used to be manufactured from stamped steel but development has brought about the use of cast aluminium in the current models. This evolution also improves durability and efficiency which is important in the improvement of living standards. Although the standard wet sump system is dominant, the design of the Oil Pan needs to concern the height of the engine and the distribution of oil during dynamic driving conditions to guarantee the sufficient covering of the engine parts.

Chrysler Laser Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install an oil pan on Chrysler Laser?
A: Remove the bolts securing the oil pan to the engine block, then tap on the pan with a soft-face hammer to break the gasket seal and lift it off. Use a gasket scraper to remove all traces of the old gasket from both the engine block and oil pan, and take out the end seals from the oil seal retainers. Clean the oil pan with solvent and dry it thoroughly, checking the gasket sealing surfaces for distortion. Before installing the oil pan, place new end seals in the oil seal retainers and apply a 3116-inch bead of RTV sealant completely around the oil pan gasket surface of the engine block, including the end seals. Gently lay the oil pan in place, then install the bolts and tighten them to the specified torque, starting with the bolts closest to the center and working out in a criss-cross pattern, ensuring not to overtighten to prevent leakage.
