What Role Do Oxygen Sensors Play in a Dodge Charger?

Oxygen sensors play a vital role in monitoring the air/fuel ratio and catalytic converter efficiency. There are four sensors, two upstream in the exhaust manifolds and two downstream behind the converters. The pre-converter sensor provides feedback to the PCM to adjust the fuel injector pulse width and control the air/fuel ratio. The post-converter sensor monitors the efficiency of the converter.
