A: Remove the Brake Disc. Remove the hub and bearing assembly if necessary. Wash off the brake parts with brake system cleaner. Follow the brake shoe replacement procedure. Install the brake disc and caliper and then install the wheel. Proceed to the shoe replacement on the opposite rear wheel. With both sides complete and wheels installed, remove the rubber plug from the brake backing plate to access the parking brake adjuster. Turn the adjuster star wheel until the shoes contact the drum the vehicle's wheel can't be turned. Back off the adjuster six notches to achieve the appropriate shoe-to-drum clearance, then replace the rubber plug. Perform the brake shoe adjustment for both wheels. Set the parking brake and confirm proper operation. Re-adjust the shoe clearance if necessary. 10: Lower the vehicle and tighten the wheel lug nuts.
