Q: How to Remove a Heater Core from an HVAC Housing?
A: Have the air conditioning system discharged and the cooling system drained. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core inlet and outlet pipes. Remove the Coolant Reservoir and instrument panel. Disconnect the refrigerant line connector block and expansion valve. Disconnect the vacuum lines from the brake power booster. Remove the drain tube and evaporator drain hose. Remove the defroster duct from the HVAC housing. Remove the HVAC mounting nuts and bolts. Remove the HVAC housing mounting bolts. Remove the foam seal from the air distribution outlet, evaporator lines and heater core tubes. Remove the upper and lower heater case mounting screws and clips. Pull the heater core out of the housing. Installation is the reverse of removal. Refill the cooling system.
