First, let down the rear door and take out its plastic lining as well as access cover. This will create a space to reach the rear door access panel. Next, remove fastening devices of latch mounting. They can be difficult to turn so you may have to use an impact driver hit with a hammer. After removing fasteners, disconnect control rod from latch and remove it from tailgate. Installation is simply the reverse of removal.
