A: To remove the alternator, start by disconnecting the air filter fresh air duct by rotating the retaining clips and pulling it from between the air filter housing and the fan shroud. Next, disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Loosen the right front wheel lug nuts, raise the front of the vehicle, and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the wheel and the under-vehicle splash shield. Also, pull back the front inner fender liner after removing its fasteners to create working space. Remove the drivebelt and the drivebelt idler pulley. Unplug the air conditioning compressor clutch electrical connector and move the compressor out of the way without disconnecting the lines, ensuring it's secured properly with wire or rope. Do not let the compressor hang by the refrigerant lines or electrical harness. Unplug the field connector from the alternator and remove the nut securing the B+ wire terminal on the back of the alternator. Remove the upper and lower alternator mounting bolts. Detach the alternator from its mounting bracket and maneuver it out from the bottom of the vehicle. For installation, reverse the removal steps, tightening the alternator bolts, air conditioning compressor bolts, and drivebelt idler pulley to their specified torques. Finally, install the wheel, lower the vehicle, and tighten the lug nuts to the torque.
