    Q:
How do you remove and reinstall an oil pan in four cylinder engine on Chrysler 200? Posted by Customer
    A:
The negative battery cable is usually connected at the remote ground terminal or battery; therefore, disconnect it before proceeding to the removal of the oil pan. Lift the car and sustain it on jack-stands and next remove the oil from the engine. Take out the drivebelt splash shield, and next is the air conditioning compressor which should be kept aside and then follows the removal of the compressor bracket. Second, unscrew and unscrew the bolts and nuts that are secured on the oil pan and then ease off the oil pan from the block using a putty knife or any gasket scraper while avoiding to mar off the sealing surfaces. Drain the oil pan and wash the sealing areas to remove all the residues of the previous gasket then inspect the oil pan for warpage, twist or bend as the case maybe and rectify it by replacement or straightening. Clean the gasket surfaces with a rag which has been dips in brake system cleaner. For installation, apply a smooth 007-inch of RTV cylinder block to front cover joint at oil pan flange and another at the sealing surface of the pan. Put in the pan and bolts and snug them up, then work in a side to side motion starting from the middle out to torque the oil pan bolts to their given spec. The rest of the installation moves in an opposite sequence to the removal process. Lastly, replace crankcase with the right quantity of recommended oil type and take a road test and also check whether there is any leakage.
