    Q:
How do you replace the rear main oil seal in 2.7L V6 engine on Chrysler 200? Posted by Customer
    A:
All models employ a one piece rear Crankshaft Seal mounted in a bolt-in housing and the only way to change this seal is to remove the transaxle and drive plate. The rear Crankshaft Seal and housing are considered as the seal and its housing, and they are serviced together; this calls for several tools. The first takes involves the separation of the transaxle, the oil pan as well as the driveplate. Subsequently, undo the rear Crankshaft Seal housing bolts and this housing. Wipe the crankshaft with clean oil and then place the new oil seal housing on the crankshaft, do not take off the protector that comes with the seal and housing until it is time to install the fully, as it will be used to push out when necessary to fit the oil seal protector. Once more the oil seal housing is bolted to the crankshaft and the bolts are slightly tightened proper alignment tools are secured on the oil pan rails. When applying the pressure on the oil seal housing, fasten the oil seal housing retainer bolts to the prescribed torque and make sure that the housing sits perfectly flat with the oil pan mating surface of the engine so as to avoid oil leaks. As for the rest of the installation, it is done in the reverse order to the removal.
