    Q:
How do you remove and install the front crankshaft seal in 2.7L V6 engine on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
The crankshaft pulley bolt has to be loosened and the pulley can then be slid off the engine. Gradually remove the seal from the cover using a seal removing tool or a large screwdriver being keen not to scratch the seal bore or the cranks shaft. It is also prohibited to scratch or gouge the area of the sealing component or to distort it in any way since that would lead to an oil leak. Remove the debris of the old seal and corrosion from the bore before placing the new seal in the bore with the inward facing side being on the side that has the spring. A small quantity of oil can be put at the outer ring of the new seal for easy fitting but should not be excessive. Screw the seal into the bore using a seal driver or a large socket and hammer to the extent that the selected socket diameter is equal to the outside diameter of the seal and the new seal is pressed into the cover flange. Grease the seal lips with the engine oil and replace the crankshaft pulley. The other steps of installation are the reverse of those of removal. After the installation has been done the engine should be turned on to see if there is any sign of oil leakage.
