    Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor. Remove the CMP sensor mounting bolt and take out the CMP sensor. If you're reinstalling the old CMP sensor, scrape off the old spacer and install a new paper spacer. If you're installing a new CMP sensor, it will come with a new paper spacer.

    Disconnect the electrical connector from the CMP sensor by depressing the release tab and removing the sensor mounting bolt. Remove the CMP sensor from the timing chain cover. Inspect the old CMP sensor O-ring for damage and replace if necessary. Apply a small dab of clean engine oil to the sensor O-ring and use a slight rocking motion to work it into the sensor mounting bore. Make sure the CMP sensor mounting flange is fully seated flat against the mounting surface.
