    Q:
How to replace ignition switch on Chrysler Sebring? Posted by Customer
    A:
On some models, the key lock cylinder and ignition switch have been replaced by a Wireless Ignition Node (WIN). The WIN is an integrated electronic receiver that is the center of communication for the key transmitter, remote starting system, security system and even the tire pressure monitoring system. If the WIN is damaged it cannot be repaired and must be replaced. If a new WIN is installed, it must be programmed to the vehicle and the ignition keys. This can only be done with a factory scan tool. The vehicle will not operate unless the WIN is programmed to the vehicle. To remove the WIN, disconnect the negative battery cable and remove the knee bolster and lower driver's side trim panel. Disconnect the coaxial cable connector and electrical connector to the WIN. Remove the fascia trim around the key opening in the dash to expose the WIN fasteners. Remove the mounting fasteners and remove the WIN from the instrument panel. Installation is the reverse of removal. To remove the ignition switch, remove the radio trim bezel and ignition switch bezel. Remove the instrument cluster and instrument cluster trim panel. Remove the driver's side knee bolster. Remove the switch mounting fasteners. Using a thin flat blade screwdriver, gently pry the clips from the ignition switch and push it out of the dash. Disconnect the shift interlock cable and remove the switch assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal.

    Q:
How to replace the key lock cylinder and ignition switch in a Dodge Charger? Posted by Customer
    A:
If the key is hard to turn, the issue may not be the ignition switch or Ignition Lock Cylinder, but could be due to a misaligned transmission shift cable or Brake Transmission Shift Interlock (BTSI) cable. To replace the Ignition Lock Cylinder, disconnect the battery, remove the ignition switch and instrument cluster bezel, insert the key and turn it to ON, depress the retaining pin and remove the cylinder. Ensure the key is in ON position and align the D-shaped lug with the socket before installing the new cylinder. To replace the ignition switch, disconnect the battery, disable the airbag, remove the knee bolster and reinforcement panel, disconnect the electrical connectors and BTSI cable, and remove the switch. The Sentry Key Remote Entry Module (SKREEM) recognizes the key's encrypted RF signal, unlocking the doors and allowing the engine to start. If the key or SKREEM is replaced, reprogramming is required at a dealership.
