    Q:
How should the Engine Coolant Temperature sensor be handled and replaced on Dodge Neon? Posted by Customer
    A:
Be very cautious when dealing with the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor besides damage to it will lead to a disability of the entire fuel injection system. Start with the removal of negative terminal of the battery and then dismantle the engine coolant. The ECT sensor is mounted midshaft on the left side of the cylinder head above the airflow sensor, behind the CMP sensor and it is not easily accessible. Depend on it to harness the ECT sensor, the CMP sensor has to be unwrung, and if the latter requires the deep socket for its removal, then the battery and battery tray have to be unbolted as well. It is recommended to take out the CMP sensor at this point, as it will be somewhat in the way. Then turn the ECT sensor anti-clockwise and remove it from the cylinder head then remove the electrical connector of the said sensor. It is advisable to cover the threads of the new ECT sensor with Teflon tape in a bid to minimize coolants leakage. Remove is the antonym of installation and involves the tighting of the ECT sensor to the appropriate torque signs, before refilling the cooling system.

    Q:
Where is the ECT Sensor Located on Dodge Dakota? Posted by Customer
    A:
The ECT sensor for the 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines is located at the front of the intake manifold. To remove, disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew it using a deep socket. Wrap the threads with Teflon sealing tape before installation. For the HEMI engine, the ECT sensor is located at the front of the engine block, under the air conditioning compressor. To access it, remove the drive belt and unbolt the compressor. Disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor using a deep socket.

    Q:
What is the Coolant Temperature Indicator System and Coolant Temperature Sensor on Dodge Neon? Posted by Customer
    A:
The coolant temperature indicator system includes a warning light or temperature gauge and a coolant temperature sending unit. The ECT sensor acts as an informational sensor for the PCM and the sending unit. If the light doesn't activate, the bulb could be faulty, the ignition switch might have issues, or there could be a circuit defect. Make sure the coolant mixture is correct.
