With the suspension balljoints the absence of freeplay is intended. With the weight of the vehicle on its wheels attempt to move the broken grease fitting which is usually located in the center of the ball joint with you bare hands. If any feel of play can be detected while wiggling the snapped off grease fitting then balljoint is worn and needs replacement. Any movement and it can be established that the balljoint is worn out and it has to be replaced with a new one. Take off the control arm and this has to be done by a professional automotive machine shop for the removal of the old balljoint and placing the new one.
