    Q:
How to Replace the Air Conditioning Condenser on Dodge Avenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
When replacing entire components, additional refrigerant oil must be added equal to the amount that is removed with the component being replaced. Read the label on the oil container to verify compatibility with the R-134a or R-1234yf system before adding any. If the condenser is being replaced due to damage, the receiver-drier should also be replaced. To remove the condenser, discharge and recover the refrigerant, disconnect the negative battery cable, remove the radiator support brace, and tilt the radiator rearward. Remove the nut retaining the air conditioning lines, disconnect the refrigerant lines, and plug all open fittings. On 2008 and later models, remove the air conditioning condenser connecting line-to-radiator mounting bolts and the connecting line. Remove the mounting bolts securing the lower condenser bracket to the radiator and disconnect the automatic transaxle cooler lines. Carefully pull up to release the condenser from the lower clips and remove it from the vehicle. To install the new condenser, fully seat it into the mounting clips and retainers. Install new O-rings onto the line fittings and lightly coat them with refrigerant oil. If using a new condenser, add 0.7-ounce (20 ml) of refrigerant oil. Finally, have the system evacuated, recharged, and leak tested by a professional.
