Lift the vehicle and remove the front wheels and steering column assembly. Disconnect the tie-rod ends and remove the anti-rotational link. Support the crossmember with a jack, remove the Rack And Pinion-to-cross member bolts, and lower the crossmember. Remove the boot seal and splash shields. Disconnect the hoses on power steering models and drain the fluid. Remove the Rack And Pinion. To install, position the Rack And Pinion in the crossmember, attach the tie-rod ends, and reconnect the hoses. Ensure proper alignment on manual steering models. Also, install the boot seal, and splash shields, and raise the crossmember. You can install the steering column assembly and front wheels. Bleed the steering system on power steering models and check for leaks.

To remove the steering gear, you should remove the boot seal and splash shields from the crossmember. On power steering equipped models, disconnect the hoses and drain the fluid into a container. Remove the steering gear mounting bolts and withdraw it from the crossmember to the left side of the vehicle.

Loosen the wheel lug nuts, raise the vehicle, support it securely on jackstands.
