    Q:
How to check and replace Coolant Temperature Sensor on Chrysler Cirrus? Posted by Customer
    A:
The coolant temperature indicator system is composed of a light or temperature gauge mounted in the dash and a coolant temperature sending unit mounted on the engine. The coolant temperature sensor is located at the front of the engine, next to the thermostat. On the models covered, there is only one coolant temperature sensor, which functions as an indicator for both the PCM and the instrument panel. If an overheating indication occurs, check the coolant level in the system and then make sure the wiring between the light or gauge and the sending unit is secure, and all fuses are intact. When the ignition switch is turned on and the starter motor is turning, the indicator light (if equipped) should be on (overheated engine indication). If the light is not on, the bulb may be burned out, the ignition switch may be faulty, or the circuit may be open. As soon as the engine starts, the light should go out and remain out unless the engine overheats. Failure of the light to go out may be due to a grounded wire between the light and the sending unit, a defective sending unit, or a faulty ignition switch. Check the coolant to make sure it is the proper type. Note: Plain water may have too low a boiling point to activate the sending unit. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor. Wrap the threads of the new sensor with Teflon tape to prevent leaks. Unscrew the sensor. Be prepared for some coolant spillage. Install the sensor and tighten it securely. Connect the electrical connector. Check the coolant level after the replacement unit has been installed and top up the system, if necessary. Check now for proper operation of the gauge and sending unit. Observe the system for leaks after operation.

    Q:
How to Replace the Camshaft Position Sensor,Coolant Temperature Sensor,Knock Sensor,MAP Sensor,Oxygen Sensor,Speed Sensor and Throttle Position Sensor on Chrysler Imperial? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the camshaft reference sensor on 3.3L and 3.8L models, detach the sensor lead, loosen the bolt, and remove the sensor. If reusing, clean the sensor face and replace the spacer and O-ring. To install a new sensor, ensure it has a paper spacer and mount the O-ring. For the charge temperature sensor, unplug the connector, replace the sensor, and secure it with tape. For the coolant sensor, replace the cap, and the sensor, and check the coolant level. For the crankshaft sensor, unplug the connector, loosen the bolt, remove the sensor, and replace the spacer if reusing. For the TPS, check resistance readings, and replace if it is incorrect.

    Q:
What is the MAP Sensor,Oxygen Sensor,Throttle Position Sensor and Coolant Temperature Sensor's Function on Jeep Comanche? Posted by Customer
    A:
The engine coolant temperature sensor, a thermistor that varies resistance with temperature, is essential for the vehicle's operation. Testing involves measuring its resistance when cold and warm; a significant difference could indicate sensor failure. Replacing it necessitates preparing the new sensor with Teflon sealing, unplugging the electrical connector, and swiftly replacing the sensor to minimize coolant leakage. The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor monitors intake manifold pressure changes, aiding the ECM in fuel delivery and ignition timing control. Testing involves connecting jumper wires, and a voltmeter should read about 4.5 to 5 volts with the ignition on and fluctuate when the engine warms up; failure may trigger Code 3Replacement requires detaching the vacuum hose, unplugging the electrical connector, and removing mounting screws. The oxygen sensor, positioned in the exhaust system, monitors exhaust gas oxygen content to inform the ECM's fuel mixture control. Testing with a voltmeter at normal operating temperature should result in voltage fluctuations; a lack of variation might indicate sensor or fuel system issues, leading to Code 13 or 4 The throttle position sensor (TPS) on the carburetor float bowl helps the ECM determine fuel delivery based on throttle valve angle. Check its resistance with an ohmmeter, and if it's inconsistent instead of progressive as you move the throttle, replace it. Replacement involves unplugging the electrical connector and removing the TPS assembly. Adjustment, if needed, requires drilling a hole in the adjustment screw's plug, connecting terminals, and adjusting the screw to achieve a specific voltage reading. Finally, the plug is replaced or sealed with RTV.

How is the charge temperature sensor replaced for the 1990 Dodge Grand Caravan? Posted by Customer
    A:
For the charge temperature sensor, unplug the electrical connector, unscrew the sensor, coat the threads of the new sensor with tape, and install it securely.
