Start by raising the vehicle and securely supporting it on jackstands. Support the axle with a floor jack and remove the lower shock absorber bolt. Then, raise the axle assembly slightly to relieve the weight on the rear springs and remove the axle plate bolts on the leaf springs. Lower the rear axle assembly, allowing the springs to hang free. Next, loosen and remove the bolts for the front spring mount and the rear spring shackle nuts and plate. Remove the spring from the shackle and finally, remove the pivot bolt from the front spring mount.

To install the leaf spring, assemble the front spring mount to the front of the spring eye and install the pivot bolt and nut. Raise the front of the spring and install the spring mount bolts, tightening them securely. Install the rear of the spring onto the rear spring shackle and install the shackle plate, but do not tighten the nuts yet. Position the lower leaf spring isolator and raise the axle assembly into position with the axle centered under the spring locator post. Install the axle plate bolts and tighten them. Finally, install the shock absorber bolts, lower the vehicle to the floor with the full weight on the wheels, and tighten all components.
