The back-up light switch is located on top of the transaxle case, near the left front corner on the driver's side, with access gained from under the vehicle. To check the back-up lights, turn the ignition key to the ON position and move the gear shift lever to Reverse; the lights should illuminate. If they do not, verify that each light bulb is functioning. If the bulbs are fine, check the back-up light fuse in the fuse box at the end of the instrument panel on the driver's side. If the fuse is blown, replace it, and if it blows again, look for a short in the circuit. If the fuse is intact, raise the vehicle securely on jackstands, turn the ignition switch ON (engine off), and ensure the gear shift lever is in reverse. Use a test light or voltmeter to check for voltage at the back-up light switch; if there is no voltage, inspect the power wire for an open or short and repair as needed. If the back-up lights still do not illuminate, unplug the electrical connector from the switch and use an ohmmeter to check for continuity between the switch terminals with the gear shift lever in reverse. If continuity is absent, replace the switch. If continuity is present but the lights do not activate, inspect the wiring between the switch and the back-up lights for an open circuit and repair as necessary. For replacement, raise the vehicle securely on jackstands, detach the electrical connector from the switch, and unscrew it from the transaxle. Wrap the threads of the new switch with Teflon tape, install it, and tighten to the specified torque. Reattach the electrical connector and lower the vehicle, then check the operation of the back-up lights to ensure the switch is functioning correctly.

Back-up light switch is located on the top of the transaxle. First of all, unscrew the switch and detach the electrical connector from the switch assembly. Before screwing the new switch into place use Teflon tape or something similar to cover the threads. Then fit in the new switch and make certain about the tightening of the switch. Join again the electrical connector and lastly, perform test run on the back-up lights.

After installing the new switch securely, reconnect the electrical connector.

Check continuity between the two outer terminals, which should only exist in REVERSE, and ensure no continuity is present between each outer terminal and the switch body. Replace the switch if any checks fail.
