Crankshaft Seal is an integral part of Chrysler Imperial automobiles, which is situated at the front part of the motor for the purpose of not allowing oil to leak from the crankcase. Generally made of somewhat metal and rubber this round seal is critically involved in the function of providing lubrication to an engine and thereby decreasing friction so that the wear and tear of certain aspects of the engine does not occur frequently. Chrysler Imperial for the years has employed different techniques for Crankshaft Seal, however, all the techniques serves the general purpose of the model. Symptoms of a bad Crankshaft Seal are general oil leak, and reduced performance as the vehicle mileage increases, therefore, replacement may be useful to enhance the performance efficiency of automobile engines.

Chrysler Imperial Crankshaft Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to replace rear Crankshaft Seal in 2.5L four cylinder engine on Chrysler Imperial?
A: Remove the transaxle. In case the car has a manual transaxle, the clutch proper and the flywheel should be detached. In the case of an automatic transaxle, the driveplate has to be removed from the vehicle. The Crankshaft Seal should come off by prying it off by using the flat edge of the screwdriver; be very much careful not to harm the crankshaft or the seal retainer bore. Wipe the seal bore in the seal housing with shop towel until it is free from oil dirt and debris. Coat the lips of the new seal with engine oil or multi-purpose grease and place the seal over the terminal end of the crankshaft with its lips turned towards the engine and use the plastic hammer to gently drive it home. Mount the driveplate or flywheel and clutch, before fitting the transaxle.
