How to check and replace engine mounts on Chrysler Town & Country?

These models employ an engine mounting system that employs four mounts; among which the right and left serve to support the engine/transaxle, and the front and rear used to manage powertrain torque. Except for the right side engine mount which is a steel stabilizer bar filled with fluid the other three are molded rubber. Engine mounts are not usually an area of concern but if they are damaged or worn out then they should be changed at earliest to avoid any flaws in the transmission of power and torque from the engine to the wheels. To check the mounts, the engine has to be lifted so that the weight is off the mounts to make an inspection and corrections if needed. The first step should be to lift the car with jackstands and then, put the jack under the engine oil pan and place a large wooden block to avoid scratching it. Lever the engine up slightly to shift some of the weight off the mounts, and then look for cracks in the rubber compound, evidence of the mounts beginning to harden, and any tendency of the mount plates to move relative to the engine or frame on which they are mounted. If movement is noticed, lower the engine and fasten the mount contact fasteners and apply rubber preservative to reduce deterioration. For replacement, lift the front of the vehicle and adequately place jackstands, then use a floor jack under the of the engine with a wooden plank to take off the weight of the engines' mounts. Unlocking the necessary bolts and fasteners for the front, left, right, and rear mounts, you should change them with new ones and tie up securely.
