    Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Label and disconnect the spark plug wires from the ignition coil. Disconnect the ignition coil electrical connector. Remove the ignition coil mounting bolts and remove the coil pack from the valve cover. Installation is the reverse of removal.

    To check the coil's primary resistance, attach the leads of an ohmmeter to the positive and negative terminals. If the measured resistances are not as specified, the coil is likely defective and should be replaced.

Detach the coil from its bracket and reverse the steps for installation.
