    Q:
How do you replace the latch,Lock Cylinder and handle on a door on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
To replace the latch, first, the window has to be lifted as far as possible; then, the door trim panel and watershield have to be taken off. Then, detach the door speaker and also those at the rear glass run channel and pull the channel away from the latch to provide more working space. Turn the two plastic retaining clips out of the rods and free the latch links and, then, release the electrical connection. To dismantle this part, one has to take out the three mounting screws that may need an impact-type screwdriver to be unscrewed from the door; the latch can then be removed. Align installation of new latch, and place the screws accordingly make them tight; reconnect the link rods also connect the electrical connector. The process of installation is in direct relation with removal and is the process that is repeated but in the opposite manner. For the lock cylinder, take off the outside door handle, and pull the lock cylinder out of the handle, while to install, do the vice versa. To replace outside handle, remove the door trim panel and speaker, then the fasteners at the rear glass run channel should be remove and shifted from the latch. Take the aerodynamic fasteners of the outside handle, turn the link rods and unfasten the handle from the door. Put the new handle in its appropriate position and fasten the link to it, and the nuts to the link provided that the bolts be tightened to the required standard of tightness, that is the reverse of the process of removal.
