    Q:
How do you remove and install a vibration damper and Crankshaft Pulley in 3.0L V6 engine on Chrysler Imperial? Posted by Customer
    A:
It is advised that before removing the vibration damper, you should loss the negative terminal of your car battery. Lose the right front lug nuts, raise the front of the car and securely place on jack stands, remove the right inner splash shield and the right front wheel. After that, remove the accessory drive belts. Take out the bolts holding the pulley on the vibration damper then take the pulley off, with the crankshaft pulley being in two halves whereby the damper locks in place using the keyway. Coil the belt with some cloth to avoid abrasive contact with the outer casing of the vibration damper because rough handling might damage the belt This will enable holding of the pulley with a chain wrench. It is advisable to halt the crankshaft from rotating and employing a socket wrench to counter-clockwise unscrew the damper bolt. In the case of the absence of a chain wrench, it is advisable to construct a crank holding tool using angle iron and bolts or as an option, you can do away with the flywheel/driveplate cover and thus freeze the crank. After that, shall remove the vibration damper although it may be tightly fixed requiring the use of a puller, but shall not use the jaw type puller. For installation, apply engine lightly oil on the surface of the seal then place the seal on the crankshaft nose to ensure that the key way on the pulley suits the key on the crankshaft then gently push the pulley on. If this does not work, gently knock the damper several times with a piece of wood and a hammer if required. Stop the crankshaft from rotating and then use the bolt to fasten the crankshaft to the required amount of torque-then replace all the removed parts in their reverse order.

    Q:
How to remove and install the vibration damper and Crankshaft Pulley in 3.3L and 3.8L V6 engine on Chrysler Imperial? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery, then loosen the lug nuts on the right front wheel. Raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands before removing the wheel. Take out the right front inner fender splash shield and the serpentine drivebelt. Remove the driveplate cover and use a large screwdriver in the ring gear teeth to prevent the crankshaft from turning while an assistant removes the vibration damper-to-crankshaft bolt, utilizing a breaker bar and socket. Pull the damper off the crankshaft with a two-jaw puller, ensuring the jaws only contact the hub of the pulley and not the outer ring. For installation, reverse the removal process, applying clean engine oil or multi-purpose grease to the seal contact surface of the damper hub to prevent damage to the seal lip and oil leakage. Finally, tighten the vibration damper-to-crankshaft bolt to the specified torque and reinstall the remaining parts in reverse order.
