How do you remove and install the crankshaft pulley on Dodge Caravan? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before you attempt to pull the crankshaft pulley off, make sure you loose the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. You have to turn the lug nuts on the right front wheel to a few turns, then jack up the car, and put it on jackstands before you remove the right front wheel. Next pull out the passenger side inner fender splash shield and the serpentine drive belt. Take of the driveplate cover and with a large screwdriver engage the crankshaft in the position then get a helper to use a breaker bar and socket to pull the crankshaft pulley-to-crankshaft bolt. Very gingerly remove the crankshaft pulley with a two jaw puller carefully engaging the inner part of the pulley. Do not pull on the outer rim of the pulley as this may cause damage. There can be beefy in-between the puller bolt and the crankshaft due to some degree of recess of the pulley. During installation, use a://'screw-in tool which is screwed directly to the crankshaft in place of the crankshaft pulley bolt' Clean engine oil or multi-purpose grease shall be applied to the seal contact surface of the damper hub so that there will be no leakage of oil. The crankshaft pulley bolt with the washers as spacers can be used in case of the tool is not available and torque should not be more than the specified value. Last but not the least, re-attach the crankshaft pulley bolt and carry out the step by step reformation of the other parts in reverse method of the elimination phase.
