The Intake Manifold Temperature sensor must be installed correctly in the air duct or housing. The sensor is located on the air filter housing or air inlet ducting. To remove the sensor, disconnect the electrical connector and turn it 1/4-turn counterclockwise before pulling it out. Replace the O-ring if necessary. Installation is the reverse of removal.

The Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor is installed on the air intake duct on all the engines and uses the same type of Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor irrespective of the duct design. To remove the electrical connector you should push the lock towards the harness so that it clicks, secondly, while keeping the lock in that position you should pull the releasing tab and took the connector off. Of which it is important to point out the installation orientation of the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor according to the engine's installation. For 2.7 L, 3.5 L, and 5.7 L engines, it is necessary to remove the sensor: by holding the sensor firmly and pulling it out of an aspect of the rubber duct, its position has to remain unchanged. For other engines, if there is a locking tab, it will have to be pulled up and the sensor needs to be turned anti-clockwise by 90 degrees and then removed from the duct, and the O-ring must be checked for replacements, if any. Removal and Installation are virtually opposite in the perspective, which will be described further in the article.

On 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor is located on the left side of the intake manifold. On Hemi engines, it is at the right front corner of the air resonator box. To disconnect the connector, depress the tab and pull off. To remove, lift the release tab and turn the sensor 1/4-turn counterclockwise. Inspect the O-ring for damage and replace if needed. To install, insert and rotate clockwise 1/4-turn, making sure the release tab locks it in. Installation is reverse of removal.

On 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, the Intake Manifold Temperature Sensor is located on the left side of the intake manifold. On Hemi engines, it is at the right front corner of the air resonator box. To disconnect the connector, depress the tab and pull off. To remove, lift the release tab and turn the sensor 1/4-turn counterclockwise. Inspect the O-ring for damage and replace if needed. To install, insert and rotate clockwise 1/4-turn, making sure the release tab locks it in. Installation is reverse of removal.

The intake manifold temperature sensor is a thermistor that changes resistance with temperature. On 2.4L four-cylinder engines, it is located on the rear lower part of the intake manifold. For 2007 and earlier Liberty models, disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor mounting bolts to remove it. For Nitro and 2008 and later Liberty models, it is installed into the rubber air intake tube near the throttle body or beginning of the air filter housing. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the sensor by turning it counterclockwise and pulling it out. Installation is the reverse of removal.

To remove the sensor, unlock and disconnect the electrical connector by pushing the lock towards the harness and depressing the release tab. Note the orientation of the sensor before removing it.

Check the condition of the sensor O-ring and replace if necessary.

To install a new or old sensor, it must be correctly oriented. Grasp the sensor firmly and pull it straight out of the air intake duct. The installation process is the reverse of removal.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the IAT sensor and lift up the release tab slightly, then turn the sensor counterclockwise and pull it out. Remove the old O-ring from the IAT sensor and inspect it for damage.

To remove the IAT sensor, disconnect the electrical connector by depressing the tab and pulling it off. Lift up the release tab slightly, rotate the sensor counterclockwise 1/4-turn, and pull it out. Remove the old O-ring from the IAT sensor and inspect it for damage. If necessary, replace the O-ring.
