To check the mounts, the engine must be raised slightly to relieve weight from them. Begin by raising the vehicle and securely supporting it on jackstands. Then, remove the front wheels and tires. Position two jacks-one under the crankshaft pulley and the other under the transaxle bellhousing-using a block of wood to protect the components while raising the engine/transaxle just enough to relieve the mounts. Inspect the mounts for any cracks, hardened rubber, or separation from the metal plates, and check for movement between the mount plates and the engine or subframe. Tighten any loose fasteners as necessary. Applying rubber preservative can help slow deterioration.

For the left mount replacement, disconnect the negative battery cable, raise the vehicle, and remove the under-vehicle splash shield, throttle body air inlet tube, and air filter housing. Support the transaxle and raise it to relieve weight from the mount. Then, remove the mounting bolts and replace the mount, tightening the bolts to the specified torque. The installation follows the reverse order.

Engine mounts seldom require attention, but broken or deteriorated mounts should be replaced immediately to prevent damage or accelerated wear on driveline components.

There are four powertrain mounts: 1. The front mount connects the transaxle to the crossmember. 2. The left mount secures the driver's side of the engine to the subframe. 3. To replace the right mount, remove the coolant reservoir, raise the vehicle, and remove the under-vehicle splash shield. Move the heater tube out of the way, then remove the engine mount bracket-to-timing cover support bolts and the engine mount bracket-to-mount bolts. Support the engine, remove the engine mount-to-body bolts, and the body-to-mount bolts from underneath. Replace the engine mount, tighten the body-to-mount bolts, lower the engine, and tighten the mount-to-bracket bolts. The installation follows the reverse order.

To replace the right mount, raise the vehicle, remove the power steering fluid reservoir, support the engine, and take out the engine mount bracket and the mount itself. Replace it with a new one and tighten the bolts.

The engine mounting system consists of four molded mounts. The right and left mounts support the engine/transaxle assembly, while the front and rear mounts restrict the torquing action of the powertrain.
