Chrysler Imperial Wheel Seal

The Wheel Seal in the Chrysler Imperial models plays an important part of protecting the wheel bearing and hub from corrosive effects of dust, dirt and stones among others. Its main role is to seal the area within the hub and prevent leakage of the lubricant while at the same time isolating contaminants from reaching the wheel bearing system, which causes a lot of harm. Chrysler Imperial employ the services of Wide Variety of Wheel Seals such as, front and rear inner and outer wheel sealages/ complete assemblies. They come from brands that use top-shaft quality material and the set in place is perfect for the vehicle's make and model. The Wheel Seals should also be checked frequently for sign of leaks or cracks necessary because they are damgeable by overheating which in turn makes them brittle and this affects the Chrysler Imperial.

Chrysler Imperial Wheel Seal Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How can oil leaks be repaired in driveaxle oil seals and speedometer pinion drive gear 0-rings on Chrysler Imperial?
A: Oil leaks frequently occur due to wear of the driveaxle oil seals or the speedometer pinion drive gear 0-ring. Replacement of the seals is relatively easy, as repairs can usually be performed without removing the transaxle from the vehicle. The driveaxle oil seals are located at the sides of the transaxle, where the driveaxles are attached. If leakage at the seal is suspected, raise the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. If the seal is leaking, lubricant will be found on the sides of the transaxle. Remove the driveaxle(s) and, using a screwdriver or prybar, carefully pry the oil seal out of the transaxle bore. If the oil seal can't be removed with these tools, a special oil seal removal tool will be required. Using a large section of pipe or a large deep socket as a drift, install the new oil seal, driving it into the bore squarely and ensuring it's completely seated. Apply multi-purpose grease to the seal lip before installing the driveaxle, taking care not to damage the lip of the new seal. The speedometer cable and extension housing is located on the transaxle housing; look for lubricant around the cable housing to determine if the 0-ring is leaking. Remove the speedometer drive pinion and replace the 0-ring.
