Dodge Daytona Oil Pan Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install an oil pan on Dodge Daytona?
A: Remove the bolts securing the oil pan to the engine block, then tap on the pan with a soft-face hammer to break the gasket seal and lift it off. Use a gasket scraper to remove all traces of the old gasket from both the engine block and oil pan, and take out the end seals from the oil seal retainers. Clean the oil pan with solvent and dry it thoroughly, checking the gasket sealing surfaces for distortion. Before installing the oil pan, place new end seals in the oil seal retainers and apply a 3116-inch bead of RTV sealant completely around the oil pan gasket surface of the engine block, including the end seals. Gently lay the oil pan in place, then install the bolts and tighten them to the specified torque, starting with the bolts closest to the center and working out in a criss-cross pattern, ensuring not to overtighten to prevent leakage.
