Q: How Can I Test and remove Fuel Injectors on multi-point efi engine?
A: With the engine running or cranking, listen to the sound from each injector with an automotive stethoscope and verify the injectors are all clicking the same. If you don't have a stethoscope, place the tip of a crew driver against the injectors and press your ear against the handle of the screwdriver. Feel the operation of each injector. Prior to installation, lubricate the O-rings with a light film of clean engine oil. Push the top of the injector straight into the fuel rail receiver cup, taking care not to damage the O-ring. Slide the open end of the injector clip into the top slot of the injector, onto the receiver cup ridge, and into the side slots of the clip. Install the fuel rail.
Q: How to remove a Fuel Injector on single-point efi engine?
A: With engine running, listen to injector sound with stethoscope or finger. Check injector electrical connector and test for voltage. If voltage, replace injector. Remove air cleaner, relieve fuel system pressure, disconnect battery cable, remove Fuel Pressure Regulator. Remove Torx screw, pry off injector cap. Pry injector from throttle body, peel off O-rings. Place new O-rings on injector and cap, coat with oil. Insert injector into throttle body, align and tighten screws. Reconnect battery cable, start engine, check for leaks. Turn off engine, reinstall air cleaner.
