    Q:
How do you remove and install the crankshaft balancer in 3.6L V6 engine on Dodge Challenger? Posted by Customer
    A:
To remove the crankshaft balancer, first disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery, ensuring that on 2015 and later models with an Intelligent Battery Sensor, the IBS connector is disconnected first. Next, raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the drivebelt, then use a breaker bar, socket, and special tool #10198 or equivalent to loosen and remove the incredibly tight crankshaft balancer bolt while holding the balancer to prevent it from turning. After that, pull the crankshaft balancer off the crankshaft. For installation, apply clean engine oil or multi-purpose grease to the seal contact surface of the balancer hub to prevent damage to the seal lip and potential oil leakage. Install the crankshaft balancer by aligning the keyway on the crankshaft with the slot in the balancer, then install and hand-tighten the bolt. Prevent the engine from rotating and tighten the bolt to the specified torque. Finally, reinstall the remaining components in the reverse order of removal.
