How to remove and install a crankshaft pulley and Harmonic Balancer in 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engine on Ram 1500? Posted by Customer
    A:
Disconnect the battery cable from its negative terminal. Next, remove the top radiator hose after draining some coolant. Remove the fans and shroud jointly as one unit. Store the fan assembly in an upright position so that you do not ruin the bearing. Take off the drive belt. Use a strap wrench together with a breaker bar to take out crankshaft pulley's center bolt. Using a puller with three hooks, and making sure that they only touch the hub of pulley, pull off the damper from crankshaft. Check if there are any grooves on the surface of pulley's hub and install new one if found necessary. Lubricate pulley's hub using clean engine oil and align key on crankshaft with slot in pulley.Installation tool for vibration damper can be used to push this onto crankshaft.Pull it over by using vibration damper installation tool until it seats correctly.Push it on crankshaft then finish pulling down by using vibration damper installation tool. Finally, tighten the fixing bolts of the damper on the crankshaft to the specified torque.Remaining part of installation is reverse of removal.
