To disconnect the knock sensors, disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). For the 3.6L V6, remove the intake manifolds and disconnect the electrical connector before removing the sensor(s) mounting bolt(s). Finally, install the knock sensor(s) by reversing the removal process.

To replace the knock sensors, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative battery terminal. Then, disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector. Remove the intake manifold and then remove the knock sensor assembly by removing the mounting bolts. Disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor and remove the mounting bolt.

To disconnect the knock sensors, disconnect the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). For the 3.6L V6, remove the intake manifolds and disconnect the electrical connector before removing the sensor(s) mounting bolt(s). Finally, install the knock sensor(s) by reversing the removal process.

For V8 engines, there are two knock sensors located on the left and right sides of the block below the exhaust manifold.

To access the knock sensors on V8 engines, the vehicle needs to be raised and secured on jackstands. The galvanized heat shield is pulled off for the left knock sensor, and the electrical connector is disconnected.

The sensor nearest the front of the engine is Sensor no. 1 and the sensor nearest the rear of the engine is Sensor no.2.

Installation is the reverse of removal, ensuring to tighten the knock sensor to the specified torque.

There are two knock sensors on 3.6L engines.

The knock sensors are located in the valley between the cylinder heads.

There are two knock sensors located on either side of the block beneath the exhaust manifold.

For V8 engines, there are two knock sensors located on the left and right sides of the block below the exhaust manifold.

To replace the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS), follow the steps for replacement, including removal of the air cleaner assembly for the 2.5L engine, unplugging the electrical connector, removing the screws retaining the TPS, and reinstalling it securely.

The knock sensors for the 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines are located on top of the block in the valley between the cylinder heads, underneath the intake manifold.

For the 3.6L V6 engine, there are two knock sensors located below the lower intake manifold area. The sensor closest to the front of the engine is Sensor 1, and the other is Sensor 2. They can be found in the valley between the cylinder banks. For the 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, the knock sensor is located at the rear of the engine, behind the intake manifold. For HEMI engines, there are two knock sensors located on the left and right sides of the block, below the exhaust manifold.

Start by disconnecting the cable(s) from the negative battery terminal(s). For the 3.6L V6 engine, remove the intake manifolds and then disconnect the electrical connector(s) before removing the sensor(s) mounting bolt(s). For the 3.7L V6 and 4.7L V8 engines, remove the intake manifold and then disconnect the knock sensor electrical connector located at the rear of the engine, behind the intake manifold. For HEMI engines, raise the front of the vehicle and secure it on jackstands. Disconnect the electrical connector from the knock sensor and remove the knock sensor mounting bolt. Finally, install the knock sensor(s) by reversing the removal process and tightening the mounting bolts.

To replace the knock sensor, start by disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Then, remove the engine cover and disconnect the electrical connector(s) from the knock sensor(s). Next, remove the mounting bolt and detach the sensor from the engine block. Finally, installation is the reverse of removal, making sure to tighten the knock sensor bolt to the specified torque.
